"Good point." Kisa said. "Shopping it is."

Carter pushed open the door for Kisa to go out, when she did he followed her.

"Any particular place to go?"

She shrugged. "Where can i get this uniform?"

"Probably downtown New York. The tailor's are better there and I trust them more, not that I want to sound like a spoiled rotten rich kid."

She laughed. "The sooner you face the fact that you are a spoiled rotten rich kid, the better."

Carter laughed "But I don't want to be one. I'd rather be some loner on Main Street or something."

"Not to sound like a total bitch, but I'd rather you be a spoiled rotten rich kid than a homeless person."

"I didn't mean it like that. Like not homeless. Like someone who was a loner or something." Carter muttered

"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked.

Carter sighed, "It's just because people expect so much from me. I have to be this and do that. I just want to be myself, without the world watching me all the time. My life, is made up of many strangers that know my name, and I have no clue who they are."

He kicked a pinecone, "Madeline enjoys the attention, I don't."

"You don't really come off as someone who doesn't like attention." She mused. "Loners aren't friendly. But anyway, you just moved. I'm sure it kind of sucks here, but at home...well, home for me...you've got a chance to be nobody. So exploit it, if that's what you want. Let Madeline have her attention."

"It'll be difficult. I've never been able to hide because Madeline always drags me around with her. And then everyone wants to be with me, just because of my looks...it's horrible."

Kisa rolled her eyes. "Madeline can only drag you around because you let her." She pointed out. "And being a loner wouldn't make you look any worse." She looked him over, then added: "Actually, it'd probably make you look better."

Carter laughed and shook his head, "Now if you had a sister like Madeline what would you do Kis?"

Kisa frowned slightly, pondering the question. "Honestly? I have no idea. I think it would be a different situation, though. I wouldn't want to escape the situation, I'd just want to upstage her."

"Upstaging Madeline is not easy." Carter murmured

She raised an eyebrow. "What, have you tried that before?"

Carter nodded and looked around. The wind had started to rise up and he gave a shiver.

"Aren't you cold?" He asked and didn't go on about upstaging Madeline.

"A little." She admitted, shivering as she pushed her hair behind her ears. The wind had blown it out of place. She wasn't quite ready to give up the subject...but perhaps it was better not to ask right now. "My point is...if you don't want Madeline to keep controlling you, don't let her."

Carter gave a small smile, "Yeah. I know, I guess you are right, to an extent." He pulled his coat off and handed it to Kisa, "Here. You look more cold then I do. I don't want you to freeze while you are my guest." He grinned at her.

Kisa smiled gratefully as she slipped into Carter's coat. It was warm from when he'd been wearing it and when she breathed in she noticed that it also smelled like him--not that that was a bad thing. "Thanks." she said, turning to face him as they walked. "Anyway...where were we going?" She'd completely forgotten what was going on.

He looked at her and smiled again, "I was thinking we could go back to my house. I mean, we've only stood out here for three hours just talking." He looked around. The sky had darken dramastically since he had last checked. He had been so into the conversation that he and Kisa had been having that he had lost track of time.

Kisa smiled and laughed, looking around at the dark sky. "Yeah, I guess You're right." She replied. "I didn't notice."

Carter chuckled, "Neither did I." He stepped onto the street and hailed a cab. He opened the door for Kisa, "Ladies first."

"Ever the gentleman." She mused, climbing into the cab and sliding over to make room for Carter.
